The perfect date night restaurant for seafood lovers, Farallon's Jellyfish Lounge is whimsically representative of the restaurant's underwater theme, where custom-made jellyfish chandeliers float overhead and octopus stools sit next to glowing columns of kelp. Follow the "sandy ocean floor" to the caviar staircase covered with 50,000 iridescent indigo-blue marbles as it sweeps up to the balcony.
What it feels like at 5pm
Louder than the dining room and deliberately so. The lounge is where the restaurant is at its most sociable — after-work drinks, pre-theatre plates, first dates and the tail end of long lunches that turned into something else. The raw bar runs down one side, so you are never more than a few feet from ice and oysters.
What to order
Start with half a dozen oysters and The Mariner, the house vodka cocktail with jalapeño, cucumber and lime. From there the Me'duse menu covers everything from potted gulf shrimp on rye toast to a chilled half Maine lobster. Our full dining-room menu is also served at the bar.

Do I need a reservation for the lounge?
The lounge keeps seating for walk-ins. For groups of four or more, or for a Friday or Saturday, call (415) 956-6969 first.
What time does the bar open?
Bar and Raw Bar open at 4:30pm. Happy Hour runs daily 4:30 to 6pm, and the Me'duse Menu is available nightly beginning at 5:30pm.
Is the Jellyfish Lounge good for a date?
It is designed for it — low light, jellyfish chandeliers overhead, banquettes rather than a rank of tables, and a raw bar you can share from. It is the room most guests photograph.
How many people fit in the Jellyfish Loft?
The Loft is a semi-private space for standing receptions and happy hours for up to 50 people. For seated dining, look at the three private rooms upstairs.
What are the marbles on the staircase?
The caviar staircase is covered with 50,000 iridescent indigo-blue marbles, sweeping up to the balcony from the "sandy ocean floor" of the lounge.
Can I eat a full dinner in the lounge?
Yes. The Me'duse menu is a complete meal on its own, and our full menu is served at the bar.
